World-leading tactical comms solutions provider Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has appointed Joe Burkhart as Director US DoD Programs. His primary focus is on the US military and SOCOM (Special Operations Command) markets.

Burkhart is based in DTC’s Herndon VA headquarters and joins DTC from Rohde & Schwarz where he was their Foreign Military Sales Manager. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the tactical radio market as a solider and industry professional, including 15 years with the Harris Corporation in a variety of key roles.

Burkhart explains that DTC’s unrivalled prowess in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), as well as the Point to Point (P2) and Point to Multipoint (P2MP) solutions were major factors in his decision to join the company, which offers a broad range of overt and covert video, audio and cellular solutions as well as cutting edge technologies for the wireless broadcast market.

I am very excited by the capabilities that MANET network technology brings to the US military as it is modern battlefield technology that DTC delivers extremely well

Joe Burkhart, Director US DoD Programs

MANET is a decentralised wireless network that operates independently of the need for infrastructure such as radio towers and where each node of the network also acts as a router and host at the same time. It is sought after by elite militaries for its mobility, rapid deployment capability, security and robustness, even in the most challenging of battlegrounds.

Burkhart’s military career spanned 21 years comprising seven years of active duty in the Signal Corps and the balance in the US Army Reserve. He retired in 2015 holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
